The results are far from satisfying, specially in the lightest colored foams which were more difficult to cleanly cut than dark colored foams. This blade is great you can cut so many material in your cameo or curio.. and the price is awesome .
It must also be in the original packaging. I made quite a few test cuts with various shapes, and even used a sketch pen in combination with the foam for some of my trials. Anything that would need to be cut at a blade level higher than 10 is likely too thick to run smoothly through the Cameo (due to its clearance level and rollers). I was able to cut craft foam using the deep cut blade on my Cameo. I am new to the Cameo 3 and dont want to mess anything by trying it without asking for your professional advice! The sheets come in a pack of 25 12"x12" sheets and cost under $10.00 at Amazon.
I just got my deep blade but haven't used it yet. Do you know if we can use the deep cut blade in the cameo? It was created for cutting thicker materials, which are not recommended in the CAMEO or Portrait. You can cut Sil brand chipboard with the regular ratchet blade.

I will try it with heat n bond but the problem is I like to make felt flowers and succulents so they can't have a backing on the felt. Nice to know about this blade though. When I go to customize my cut settings, it only allows me to go up to a 10 on the blade settings.
Thanks in advance :). With a shallower blade I needed a higher thickness setting and a double cut. However, some may not actually consider it chipboard given it's thickness - or lack thereof.

I already have the CB09 and would hate to spend another $20 or so on the deep cut blade and not really need it. The other combination was blade 18, thickness 4, single cut. Has anyone tried this using chipboard and the Cameo? Hi.
Multiple passes are still needed. I also tested a thinner chipboard that's considered "medium weight" at, No amount of double cutting with the Deep Cut Blade was cutting through the. 
It took a little trial and error, but in the end I was able to cut 5-inch state outlines with amazing detail! The blade barely cut it--mostly just outlined it and I had to then cut it myself but the blade mangled it in places. I have a long experience using the Silhouette SD and the Cameo and I am not new to this type of machines. The rim immediately surrounding the blade has a red section and a blue rim. You will need to write down a list of your successful settings for each material and keep it as a reference. Thanks. Ill definitely be using this as a guide for myself! Anyone else have the same issue? There are two main differences when using this compared to the normal Cameo blade: The Deep-Cut Blade has a 2 mmlong blade that can be used to cut through thicker materials, such as craft foam. I love the different colors. I could change the actual blade to 20 but the machine only says ratchet. I would say that the Silhouette Blade would go dull sooner than my 15 blades. Do you think it can cut words out of the foam? One year warranty applies. Thanks for the info. Plain craft foam cut with my blade set between 16-18. A good starting place to choose an initial blade depth is to choose a depth of blade that will cut all the way through the material but not deeper. And how thick was your craft foam? Glad you tried it because that would be a main reason I would order the deep cut. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

Thank-you so much for the tutorial! HI all! Its the same principle. AND after you've cut you can hit the button that says Start (in the right hand column) and it with cut again. (See the bottom portion of the image below to see a comparison of the maximum depths each blade can reach.). THis machine does not really give what it promises about cutting foam. What a fail! With that said then do you think the CB09 blade holder using the 60 degree blade would work the same as the deep cut blade.
Did not perform the way it expected, but could have been user error. You may have noticed the deep cut blade is a choice you can access in the Cut Settings Window when adding custom materials, and it will also be chosen by default if you choose craft foam as your material type (Curio users).

I also found out the blade always leaves a mark the moment it gets into the foam and breaks into it and starts the cut, and that mark cannot be cleaned, is like a little circle a little bite in the edge. Something went wrong. There are two rows of numbers, and the color(s) you can see next to the blade indicate which number you are on (this will make more sense once you look at the instructions). To adjust the blade, you turn the cylinder of the blade itself. Can the deep cut blade be used in the Cameo? I also reversed the image and flipped the material face-down on my mat so I was cutting through the backing first. I used the regular blade on quilter stencil plastic sheets. I don't want to have to purchase the curio to do it if I don't have to. I have recently tried the metal engraving with the Curio and that I am quite happy, it takes many passes and a good card around the metal shape to hold it in place while engraving but after many passes I got a decent and cleanly engraved text. I'm not sure that I've had better results with this blade then my standard ratchet blade. ), DONT: Cut really dense materials. thank you! Often several combinations of blade depth and thickness will work (see Silhouettes test-cut FAQ). You can see all my test cuts on the matnothing seemed to work! 
Extra texture and dimension on a card is always fun, and the deep cut blade onthe Silhouette Curio is a great way to make those elements. I think it depends on how large the text is and the font you pickyou can see that the craft foam - even those thin areas cut nicely so it would probably work. The Curio never cut as perfect as that photo with the funny octupuss shows (is that adhesive backed foam?) you can purchase a larger mat separately - 8x12. Sorry if this is a silly question! I think I cant use automatic blades, not sure if this is an auto or ratchet type. First use the arrows near the on-screen test-cut button to position the blade unit over a clear area of your material. Unlike the normal ratchet blade, you do not need a tool to adjust the deep-cut blade; just twist it with your fingers. I'm wondering how the new Sil blade compares to the CB09. Thanks!
