I'd like to find some quality alternatives too. Hard to find. Most are plastic with 2 screws holding the collar on.

So far I like the Otiker clamp solution for the most cost effective long term, but what tool is used to crimp these on (PEX)? If that's confusing, just Google it. I buy the ones with the hose clamp, toss the hose clamp in the drawer and use the right size Oetiker ear clamp instead. Not being a smart arse, but, I protect the ends from getting damaged in the first place, and then don't have to worry about replacing the ends. I just did a 3/8 reinforced vinyl hose install for my "friends" place found that the 1/2 inch crimp rings works perfectly for the 3/8 id 5/8 OD vinyl hose to a quick connect barb. As you said, the hose clamps hurt your hands, and the type that use a collar with 2 screws usually slip over time or dont hold the hose end tight enough to avoid rotation when removing attachments from it. They'll work for a while, but aren't really worth bothering with. Cover the crimp and clamp with shrink tubing to save your hand. used to use these, but getting harder to find. Kind of like a venus fly trap if you put your finger in it's mouth. It doesn't have to be super thick shrink,many hating will save your hand. I use a Mastercool hose crimper and ferrules bought from mcmaster. You can also use SS cable ties with the special tool, much more low profile than standard hose clamps.

For a little more money, they make metal ones with a collar that you hammer down to clamp onto the hose. Aeroquip Brand 5100,FD89,FD99,FF Series Hydraulic Quick Con. These are nice and easy to use. Oetiker clamps {not sure how to spell it}, they have std and mm kits, I bought one of each, on came with the pinch tool and one was just the rings, it was like $80 for everthing at ace's hardware, they have gotten me out a few jams, just used it the other day to reconnect my regulator hose for my welder that someone {me} burnt a hole in You must log in or register to reply here.

For a little more money, they make metal ones with a collar that you hammer down to clamp onto the hose. Aeroquip Brand 5100,FD89,FD99,FF Series Hydraulic Quick Con. These are nice and easy to use.
