The stainless steel quickly warms up in your hand, and even though there isn't any grip texture on the body, it's surprisingly secure. I have 2 of these pencils, one in steel and one in brass. 
The new mechanism also meant a complete redesign of the pencil's interior, so dissasembly of the pencil is now a bit different and not so straightforward!

With this pencil, I didn't know the nose cone unscrewed until I looked at photos on the website and realized you removed the nose cone in order to replace the lead mechanism with a different size.

I just can't help see the resemblance between the two. You won't get what a difference it is until you write with a good utensil that feels right in your hand, like this modern fuel pencil. The brushed finish also does an excellent job at hiding the seam between the nose cone and barrel, which is almost impossible to see at first sight.

Designwise, I've always found this a fascinating pencil. The pencil market is fascinating due to the level of engineering and design thought that go into these things.
I quite like that hand-finished aspect about it, it shows that the maker really puts care and time in his product. I use these pencils probably 90% of the time now, and after having them for more than a year, I still haven't lost either of them, or had any issues with them. Version 2.0 added a retractable tip to the pencil. There's a satisfying weight that's still within the comfort range. Aside from the practical aspect, I also just really like the technical complexity of this product, but hey I'm a nerd! Mind: blown. The front tip of the pencil unscrews next, which is kept in place with a rubber o-ring. Every pencil contains multiple, intricate parts each of which is made of metal except for the eraser and o-ring but appears to be a single piece thanks to the seamless hand-blended design.

Having had the opportunity to play with this prototype partially made me reconsider my initial impression, but I still think it's slightly too expensive.

The clip does not come pre-installed, and it takes a good bit of effort to install! The mechanism, as I said, can be had in 0.5, 07 and 0.9mm versions, and can be purchased separately.
This step is where I failed a couple times, as you have to unscrew the knock while keeping the wrench and rest of the pencil steady.
There's a small hex nut in the barrel that allows you to unscrew the lead mechanism.
The heft is surprising for such a slim pencil, but I didn't find it too heavy in use.

If you're in the market for a truly satisfying product you should keep looking. I love my pencil! For mechanical pencils, I prefer a smaller lead size like this, as I like the fine line it produces.

Being able to dissasemble completely makes it easy to service the mechanism or replace broken parts (IF something breaks, but I doubt that'll ever happen).

I love the look and design of the eraser and end cap, sort of a super high-quality homage to those classic Bic mechanical pencils I used as a kid (and still indulge in from time to time).

The current product is an overpriced disposable item advertised as an heirloom quality writing instrument.
No two pencils are exactly alikethe cone and body are combined during production, and the pencil is blended and finished by hand for a flawless presentation. I personally tested the bronze version. Hand-blended seams creating the appearance of one single piece. The eraser can be pulled out, after which you can unscrew the push button ("knock") using the included hex wrench.

To make things very clear: apart from an aesthetic resemblance, the two are in no way comparable, believe me! If you understand the level of quality attached to this pencil, you'll know exactly what you're buying, and it will be worth every penny. A hidden screw system holds the pencil together and can be disassembled using the provided Allen key. Some editorial may be sponsored or allow us to receive a commission. The mechanism works smoothly, and the knock is relatively silent. Which metal you choose obviously has a huge influence on the feel and balance of the pencil, but more on that later.

The price. All things considered, I think $200 is a fair price for this pencil. It looks great, it performs flawlessly, it's dependable and versatile.

That's the first question that came to mind when I first saw the, You might wonder why and how you'd possibly over-engineer a pencil that's based on a cheap disposable plastic pencil? What I received was an aluminum tube with a cheap plastic insert no different than a $2 pencil from the grocery store.
Bronze and Titanium are hard enough to cut without needing to add any other metals.
