But you can't get away with wearing those sort of scents in a temperate zone in America. It has a warmness to it but I think this scent is good for any season. I spent a few years as a grad student among stacks of old books, and while it wasnt outright unpleasant I never thought it was especially pleasant. 
I Like the cucumber, woody, mossy opening so muc!h that I almost bought a full bottle then and there, but the drydown turns very Barbasol-shave gel masculine on me, with the bergamot, lavender and wood dominating. I only put one spray on each wrist, three days ago, and I can still smell it on things. The bulk of its composition isa blunt cedar-and-sandalwood duo that stings my nose a bit and lasts for a couple of hours on my skin. Given my paired bibliophilia and aromaphilia, you'd think I'd fall hard for Book. Le Labos Patchouli? (!?!?!). I might try a few others from the line, just to see what I thinkbut its taken me a while even to get around to this one, as you can see! And I suppose its good that Sephora has something minimalist-ish to offeralthough people would be better off seeking out Le Labo, Malle, or any of a dozen brands available at places like Barneys. There is something about the way paper breaks down as it ages that produces a woody-vanilla-like effect, apparently.
On my skin, it doesn't flatter those warm dry woods very well. I worked in a secondhand bookstore for awhile and people would literally walk in the door, close their eyes, and sniff. 
Longevity is long. At first whiff the cucumber, sandalwood, and bergamot are what hit you hardest. This quickly setteles into a very subtle warm damp ceder wood, like being in a sauna. size. Book was a great and cheaper alternative to Santal 33. To my nose, Book begins with something unexpected that smells like a freshly sliced cucumber. I actually think I prefer the smell to Santal 33 because there seems to be an incense accord somewhere in this, but I'd still buy Santal 33 over this because this just doesn't perform at all.
